As Executive Vice President, Managing Principal of Cejka Search, Alan leads executive search engagements for our healthcare and academic clients. As lead for our Academic Medicine and Health Sciences Practice, Alan specializes in recruiting executives for all leadership positions within academic health science centers, including schools of medicine, nursing, dentistry, pharmacy, public health and allied health professions, as well as health systems, teaching hospitals and research centers/institutes. He partners with schools of medicine and other academic health science organizations to identify and recruit outstanding leaders within the clinical and basic sciences, as well as their associated scientific research centers and institutes to enhance and grow his clients’ missions of clinical care, education, research and community engagement. Alan and his team specialize in providing high-quality, high-touch service in search execution, candidate management and client satisfaction.

With over 25 years of senior leadership experience in research-intensive academic medical centers and universities, including Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Duke University School of Medicine and Cancer Center, Virginia Commonwealth University, Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University School of Nursing, Alan is able to understand well the unique needs and missions of his clients. His first-hand knowledge and experience working with presidents, provosts, CEOs, deans, chairs, chiefs, research scientists and administrators enables him to be a trusted advisor to senior leadership. His in-depth knowledge of the academic, healthcare, executive search, and finance markets proves vital to further developing new marketing strategies and business development plans for Cejka Search.

Alan earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida, a Master of Public Administration from University of North Florida and completed the Advanced Program for Executive Search Consulting (AESC) at Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
