A leading fully integrated non-profit health care system in East Texas, comprised of a network of 30 clinics staffed by 130 physicians and a 358-bed acute care facility. Since 1995, the client has opened 11 regional clinics and a second hospital to provide primary and tertiary care to 18 Texas counties.
Client’s Challenges
The client hired Cejka Search to restructure its recruitment practices citing the following challenges:
- The community and surrounding areas were experiencing rapid population growth, creating a greater demad for healthcare services, especially in rural markets.
- The need for specialty healthcare services, such as cardiology, gastroenterology and surgery was increasing
- The client was expanding its network of regional clinics, building two new facilities and acquiring a third.
- The local healthcare industry was becoming an increasingly competitive environment and TMFHS wished to maintain its position as the market leader
- The organization’s recruitment infrastructure did not support the client’s robust growth strategy.

Execution
To achieve the clients specific goals, Cejka Search implemented the following tactics:
Recruitment Program – Cejka Search and the client developed best practice applications of Cejka Search's interviewing and hiring models. The on-site recruiter efficiently identifies, screens and recommends potential physician candidates based on both the clinical and cultural fit. Interview preparations are made, reference checks are done, candidate evaluations processed and contract negotiations are conducted. Upon meeting the candidate, the client is fully prepared to make an offer.
On-site Recruitment Professional – The client selected a Cejka Search employee to work on-site. This recruitment professional brought immediate expertise and broad candidate acquisition capabilities of Cejka Search to the clients organization.
In addition, the on-site recruiter added a "personal touch" to the recruitment process, identifying the needs and expectations of both the candidate and family members. The recruiter arranges travel and connects candidates with real estate agents, educational institutions and other community services. For the candidate's family, the recruiter plans various recreational events such as trips to the zoo, golf outings and spouse lunches.
Training Program – Cejka Search developed a recruitment training program for the client's physician leadership and managing partners that includes: 1) interview techniques, 2) a quicker process for extending offers and 3) recruitment practices that promote the clients oranization to desired candidates.
Results
