St. Louis, Monday, July 30, 2007 - The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter announces that Vivian M. Luce has been elected to serve a two-year term as Chair of the Board of Directors. Vivian, a 30+ year Red Cross volunteer and the Vice-President of Business Development for Cejka Search, is committed to the Red Cross mission to help the community prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and emergencies. Vivian embraces her new leadership role in the St. Louis Area Chapter's 90th year of service to the metropolitan area.
"The Red Cross and the St. Louis metropolitan area have a great friend and advocate in Vivian Luce," said Joseph C. White, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter. "The St. Louis Area Chapter touches this community more than 410,000 times every year, and I look forward to serving with Vivian in an ongoing effort to provide the highest quality of community service to the greatest number of people in the most efficient manner possible."
About Vivian M. Luce
Vivian M. Luce has been a dedicated Red Cross volunteer for more than 30 years and fondly remembers her first volunteer experience at the age of 15. During her summer vacation, Vivian enrolled in a Red Cross water safety course to become a lifeguard at Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For the next six years, Vivian attended Red Cross Aquatics School, first as a student and later as an instructor.
After graduating from college, Vivian turned her passion for the Red Cross into a career. Vivian took a job as a Red Cross Safety Specialist and then became a Field Service Manager, which entailed traveling extensively in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Northern Iowa. After seven years and a series of career promotions, Vivian left the Red Cross to enroll in graduate school where she stayed connected with the Red Cross as an avid volunteer. To date, she has never let her First Aid, CPR/AED certifications expire, most recently recertifying as a lifeguard.
Since moving to St. Louis, Vivian has served in numerous Red Cross volunteer leadership roles. Prior to her election as Chair of the Board, Vivian served as the Chair of the Supervisory Committee for Health & Safety, Chair of the Emergency Services Committee, and Chair of the 2005 American Red Cross National Convention in San Francisco.
Vivian is Vice President of Business Development at Cejka Search, a healthcare executive and physician search firm.
"Those who know me know how passionate I am about the American Red Cross and that I consider it a privilege to work with such a proud, enduring and noble organization," said Vivian Luce. "I commit to work tirelessly and in partnership with our community leaders, because together we can ensure the mission of the Red Cross is delivered every day, everywhere, and to everyone in their hour of need."
